Bedrace Captain Todd Hansen of Quartersawn Design and Build Unveils His Top Fundraising Tips

When winter arrives, Quartersawn Design and Build’s small and mighty staff of 21 members enthusiastically prepare for The Original Mattress Factory Bedrace for Bridging! Their staff has participated in the Bedrace for four years, and last year, Quartersawn organized three Bedrace teams!

Quartersawn’s Director of Experiences and Bedrace team captain Todd Hansen delights in the playfulness of the Bedrace costumes AND the 15 exhilarating seconds of racing down the hill! He shares why the Bedrace for Bridging is a favorite annual event for the Quartersawn crew:

“The Bedrace is a community experience that provides a fun way to have a meaningful experience for our team. People engage in the event in different ways — coming up with creative costumes, the competition of winning the race, cheering on the teams, and fundraising — even if they don’t race down the hill. They all enjoy it!”

Ultimately, Quartersawn participates in the Bedrace to raise funds that help Bridging furnish more homes and empower people to thrive, important work that aligns with their company’s mission to create exceptional spaces and transform lives.

Todd unveils his go-to Bedrace fundraising tips, challenging 2026 Bedracers AND supporters to take their fundraising efforts to the highest levels!

  • Leverage the relationships you’ve created over the years. Reach out, ask your friends, colleagues, family, and neighbors to donate.
  • Share your passion for the mission! Describe Bridging’s impact and why it’s important to you and the community!
  • Remind people to donate through a follow-up email or text message. Give updates about your fundraising progress: “I’m almost to my fundraising goal! Can you help me surpass it?”
  • After the event, make sure to send results and photos to everyone you asked, even if they didn’t donate. This is a way for them to see and learn about the Bedrace and its community impact.

Last but not least, Todd underscores one final tip for all who are fundraising for the Bedrace for Bridging:

  • “Don’t be afraid to ask for money! You’ll be surprised who will give and how much people will give. You are the messenger. You are asking for money for this important cause, and the people you ask know and trust you.”

Quartersawn Design and Build is a Minneapolis-based design and build home-remodeling firm focused on creating exceptional experiences and exceptional design that transform lives. As a five-year Bridging partner, they have sponsored a dresser build, assembled kitchen packs at their trade partner event, and participated in the Bedrace for Bridging!
