Lives We Touch: Kelli’s Story

By Kelli F.

“When I first came in, I wondered if I would be judged. It was my first thought. When I got there, I was greeted with a smile, and no one treated me in any other way but with respect.

It can be hard to ask for help. My pride gets in the way. When I came there, I felt cared for, I felt like I wasn’t being judged. It was a whole place that was put there to help my family during a hard time. I was really grateful. The volunteers were great. They were really welcoming and sweet.

They wanted to meet me at MY needs. They made me feel like I was the only one there. They took their time and focused on me and the needs of my little boy. I was going through and picking what I wanted.

Honestly, I felt worthwhile.

Sometimes, you can feel like people don’t see you, or don’t want to see you. You feel invisible or unimportant. At Bridging I felt important.

I deserve it just as much as anybody else. I got beds, furniture, a couch, a love seat, everything for the house from pans to dishes, and bedding. The beds and blankets are coming in handy today because it’s so cold. I found a desk for my little boy. He’ll sit and do his homework.

The delivery went really, really well. It only took 10 minutes for them to bring everything in.

I feel like it’s home. I turned my house into a home. Me and my little boy, we like cuddling together, reading his bedtime story, and saying our prayers.

I just want to say again, the volunteers that helped me, they were amazing. They made me feel like the sky is the limit. Please let them know and thank them for me.”
