Bridging celebrates 33 Years Furnishing Homes With Hope

On July 8, 1987 community leaders held the first organizational meeting of Bridging at Pax Christi Catholic Community in Eden Prairie. From that date on, Bridging would be fully committed to the cause of helping are families make a fresh start.

The logo and name has changed over the years, but the vision remains the same: that every person should live in a furnished home. From a network of 73 nonprofit agencies, to now more than 200 active agency partners that refer clients, it has always been important to the mission to have community support.

This year we look back at this time and reflect on the more than 300,000 people who have been touched by Bridging’s mission. We also reflect on the hundreds of thousands of volunteers and donors who have helped Bridging grow into the organization it is today.

“That’s Bridging!”

In those early days, the headlines were brought to our Bridging champions’ doorsteps through “The Provider.” When spring flooding hit many in the area, for instance, Bridging helped people to regain their footing.

“We are very thankful to still have a home. Many families in the area are not so lucky. Thank you so much for helping my family during the flood… thank you, Bridging!”

The newsletter features Bridging Stories, along with ideas for how people could get involved. You can read about special moments when, just as Bridging staff and volunteers are mention a need for some specific item, a truckload, almost out of thin air. Take a look at some of these historical documents; they are filled with inspirational and motivational messages– and the amazing thing is, those messages still resonate today.
