More Like Home: A dresser for every bedroom

Before I joined the Community Relations Team at Bridging, I was part of the warehouse team. On one of my final deliveries of furniture and household goods I brought in one of our new dressers to the client’s apartment. Inside the apartment, there were several black garbage bags on the floor labeled, “socks”, “pants”, “shirts”, etc.

When we left that apartment, they had a new dresser to help organize their clothing and help make their space feel more like a home.

Group Project Idea: Sponsor a Dresser Build!

Fast forward to today. One of my favorite group projects is the dresser build. This is an event that happens when a company purchases dressers from Bridging and organizes a group to build them! Groups can build at our site and see Bridging in action, or I get to show up at their place of work and lead a dresser build there.

Not only is the dresser build a fun group activity that is great for team building at any organization, it helps supplement Bridging’s dresser intake when donations of dressers are slower to come in. These dressers built by some great businesses, organizations and community groups are also valuable because they are a manageable size and are a lighter weight for clients to get into their homes– which are sometimes up one or more flights of stairs. Oh yeah, they are also a modern looking finish and they’re NEW! (Check out our photos of our new dresser build designs!)

Interest is growing!

While COVID meant having to cancel our dresser builds for most of 2020, things are turning around and interest is growing! One thing that hasn’t changed is the need (hint, hint). We would love to see the day when we can provide a dresser for everyone in the household that needs one. Will you help us be that bridge?

This spring, Bridging switched its dresser supplier to a new vendor. We now purchase dressers from Ashley Furniture. The best part about these dressers is that they are lightweight and help us supplement Bridging’s dresser intake when donations of dressers are slower to come in.
