Frank M. Creates A Place to Call Home
Frank is a U.S. Marine Corp Veteran and a father who furnished his family’s home at Bridging.
“I had a transitional home situation. Bridging helped me get my household situation stabilized,” he says.
With the help of Minnesota Assistance Council for Veterans (MACV), Frank secured an apartment for his family and accessed other helpful resources through Veterans Affairs. A Bridging agency partner, MACV also provided Frank with a referral to Bridging and covered the costs of the shopping fee and delivery.
“The furnishings, the whole household, the home touches — helped a lot,” says Frank. “They provided beds for both of us. We got a five-person sectional, a dining room table and chairs, a large area rug, dishware, and a desk and chair for my son. He is very comfortable.”
With his new furnished home, Frank can focus on what he describes as his top priority: being a father.
“I could save money and take care of my son’s daycare needs,” he says. “I would have had to finance the furnishings and have those monthly payments— or live without it. I don’t have the payments, and I don’t have to work overtime. I have more time to take care of my son and spend time with him.”
Frank is focused on his goals that support the well-being of his family. He recently pursued a career change and moved to a new community.
“My son is starting a new school, and he is super enthusiastic and happy. And I’m excited to volunteer at his school in the cafeteria on the first day!”
It’s been two years since Frank came to Bridging. Frank and his son share excitement about their furnished home and appreciation for Bridging, each in their own way. “Very comfortable” in his new room, Frank’s son flashes big smiles while he colors at his desk and bounces on his bed.
Frank shares his words of gratitude:
“I am grateful for everyone who donated. I got furniture for my place. I have a home to come home to. The furniture makes it a home.”
“I’m happy about it. I’m grateful. I would recommend this resource to other families who need some extra help.”
