An Abundance of Gratitude for Bridging Partner Carleton College

Two days before Thanksgiving, Bridging’s warehouse and delivery team of three staff members and 10 volunteers embarked on a “field trip” to Carleton College to pick up two full truckloads of more than 125 dining tables and 300 chairs. These gently-used items will be immediately available to individuals and families as they furnish their homes.

Bridging is grateful for its longtime partnership with Carleton College. Nearly two decades ago, Bridging Founder Fran Heitzman connected with staff at the college to share Bridging’s mission and invite them to participate.

Since 2006, Carleton has donated upholstered furniture, nightstands, lamps, and artwork — usually a large truckload each year — to Bridging following upgrades to furnishings in dorm rooms and common areas.

This exceptional academic community sparks collaborative learning and demonstrates its ongoing commitment to the community and sustainability.

“I love that Bridging is a resource for people in need,” says Patti Sabrowski, custodial manager at Carleton College. “Last year, I remember Bridging’s press release about donations being down. When we were planning this dining update at the college, I thought these tables would be great for families in need. I’m glad that Carleton can support Bridging’s work.”

Bridging expresses gratitude to the staff and students of Carleton College for working together to FURNISH HOMES WITH HOPE.

“The beauty of Bridging’s partnership with Carleton College is that they understand Bridging’s high quality standard,” says Steve Jameson, Bridging’s operations and logistics manager. “With the dignity of the clients at the forefront of what we do, we only take items that are in good condition. We value our partnership with Carleton.”
